Window Installation Methods

WASCO offers two choices in window installation: replacement leaving the original jambs, header and sill in place (also called pocket replacement window installation), or a complete tear-out of the original window. In general, WASCO recommends the former for homes built before approximately 1970, and the latter for clad wood casement windows and vinyl new construction windows. The reason: better materials were most likely used in the older homes, whereas sometimes less expensive materials (raw materials or even the windows themselves) are used in newer home construction to keep construction costs down. Nailing fin windows require complete tear-out in order to ensure a good weather seal.

WASCO will only replace vinyl new construction windows by doing a complete tear-out. In some cases it is also required when triple pane glass is desired in a casement or Tilt & Turn.
